Accounting Clerk – Inpatient Accounting Department
Full-Time | Jamaica Hospital Medical Center | Queens, NY
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a 404-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Clerk to join our Inpatient Accounting Department.

Primary Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile inpatient charges, ensuring complete and accurate charge capture for all hospital admissions and stays.
- Prepare and submit UB-04 claims in compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations.
- Review admission and discharge records to verify accurate DRG assignment, room charges, and ancillary services.
- Collaborate with Health Information Management, Case Management, and Coding teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure clean claim submission.
- Monitor inpatient accounts receivable and follow up on denials, re-bills, and adjustments in accordance with hospital policy.
- Reconcile inpatient revenue postings to the general ledger and assist with daily/monthly financial reports.
- Maintain thorough documentation of billing actions and corrections in the electronic medical record (EHR) and financial systems.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions (pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUPs) to analyze inpatient billing trends and account reconciliation data.
