Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a 404-bed hospital and has served the Jamaica, Queens community since 1891. Regarded as a leading hospital in Queens, New York, we offer a wide variety of patient-centered, expert care to our community. We have also been recognized by many renowned healthcare organizations as leaders in overall quality care and patient safety. Awards however are not as important as the trust and respect we receive from those we care for. We take your care– and the care of your newborn– very seriously.

As a MIDWIFE, you will be responsible for:

  • Primary care for expecting mothers and women

  • Diagnosing and treating patients

  • Providing references to specialists

  • STD testing and treatment on expecting parents

  • Education and preparation for new parents

  • Handling labor and delivery

  • Care for newborns during the first 28 days of life

  • Assisting during cesarean sections

  • Emotional support for expecting mothers

  • Prenatal examinations

  • Postnatal examinations

  • Training to deal with complications that may arise during labor and delivery

  • Prescribing medicine to patients

Requirements

You must hold at least a Master's degree.

Have successfully passed the American Midwifery Certification Board licensing exam.

Posess a valid NYS RN License.

Display compassion, emapthy, and fenuine concern for the patient and her newborn.

Be technologically advanced in latest medical software.
