Bring Your Patient Care Skills to the Bedside

At Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Patient Care Associates are an essential part of the nursing team. This is hands-on patient care. You will work directly with patients, nurses, and other clinical staff to help provide safe, compassionate care throughout the hospital.

We are hiring PCAs for opportunities across Emergency, Medical/Surgical, ICU, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Hospice, and other specialty units, with multiple shifts available.

If you are comfortable working directly with patients and have the training to provide essential bedside care, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Expected to Do

As a PCA, you will:

  • Assist patients with bathing, grooming, feeding, mobility, and other activities of daily living
  • Obtain and accurately record vital signs
  • Perform EKGs and phlebotomy when required
  • Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and transportation
  • Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff
  • Support nurses with bedside patient care
  • Follow infection-control and patient-safety standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation and a safe, respectful care environment

Requirements

Do You Meet One of These Qualifications?
You can qualify for this position in one of two ways:

Option 1 – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Active CNA certification
  • Listed on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry
  • EKG certification
  • Phlebotomy certification

OR

Option 2 – Patient Care Technician (PCT)

  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification
  • Successful completion of the NHA CPCT/A exam

What Else Should You Bring?

Regardless of which option you qualify under, you should have experience or training in:

  • Taking vital signs
  • Bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene assistance
  • Feeding patients
  • Patient transfers, positioning, and mobility
  • Infection-control practices
  • Patient-safety procedures
  • Hospital or other clinical patient-care environments

Before You Apply
This is a direct patient-care position, not an administrative or observation-only role. You should be comfortable providing personal care, assisting patients with mobility and feeding, taking vital signs, and working closely with nursing staff in a busy hospital environment.
