Overview
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This is a high-acuity step-down environment caring for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical interventions.

As part of our critical care services, IMCU nurses work alongside intensivists, physicians, and specialized care teams to deliver continuous, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute medical, surgical, cardiac, and pulmonary conditions
  • Perform continuous patient assessments and monitor for clinical changes
  • Manage airway support and assist with ventilator-dependent patients
  • Administer and titrate IV medications and critical infusions
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms using telemetry
  • Assist with and maintain central lines, chest tubes, and other devices
  • Collaborate with physicians on treatment plans and patient status
  • Document patient care, vital signs, and responses to treatment accurately

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active New York State RN license
  • BSN preferred
  • 1–2 years of IMCU, Critical Care, or Step-Down experience preferred
  • Candidates with LTC or subacute experience will be considered
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
