DEPARTMENT – SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTER PROGRAM
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center
has a full-time opening for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse in our Queens School-Based Public Elementary School Health Center Program.
The selected candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate and provide primary health care to students ages 3-12 years old. Specific duties will include assisting the Nurse Practitioner in:

  • Providing physical and mental health care to students
  • Treating illnesses, fevers, colds, stomach aches, and other ailments.
  •  Administering first aid and wound care to injured students
  •  Assessing illnesses and injuries and contacting parents or emergency services if needed.
  •  Monitoring and dispensing students' medications
  • Providing health education to students
  • Documenting student interventions and updating medical records.
  • Administering vaccines to students
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school for licensed practical nursing.
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience, in an ambulatory care setting
  • MUST have experience working with pediatric populations!
