Location: Queens, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift (12-hour shifts)

The Department of Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides high-quality, compassionate care through a variety of services, including Inpatient Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency (CPEP), Outpatient Behavioral Health, Mobile Crisis, and Chemical Dependency Treatment.

We are currently seeking dedicated, patient-focused Registered Nurses to join our Inpatient Psychiatric Night Shift Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Behavioral Health Nurses and new graduates with a passion for mental health nursing.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (28-bed adult unit)
Night Shift (7:00PM – 7:30AM)
Starting Salary: $55.92/hour + Night Shift Differentials + Benefits
Union position with full-time benefits and growth potential

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and continuous patient monitoring
  • Administering medications and tracking therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Facilitating crisis interventions and de-escalation.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists on treatment planning.
  • Educating patients on coping strategies, medications, and recovery planning.
  • Ensuring patient safety and maintaining a supportive therapeutic environment.
  • Assisting in discharge planning and coordination of care post-hospitalization

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current NYS RN License (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Required)
  • BLS & ACLS Certification (Required)
  • 1-2 years Psychiatric/Behavioral Health RN experience preferred
  • New RN graduates with a strong interest in mental health nursing encouraged to apply
  • Experience in Detox, Long-Term Care, or Crisis Care highly desirable
