Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Center of Excellence Grant Program
Location: Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Queens, NY
Type: Full-Time – 1199 Union Position with Comprehensive Benefits
Base Salary:  $  159,462.85  Plus Differentials and Full 1199 Benefits

Through our Center of Excellence (COE) Grant Program, we are advancing behavioral health services by expanding access to evidence-based care, training, and research.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate  Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our interdisciplinary team and make a lasting impact on patient care and community wellness.

Role Overview
As a Nurse Practitioner within the Center of Excellence, you will provide direct clinical care to patients with behavioral health and co-occurring conditions, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to the program’s mission of improving mental health outcomes through innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and medical evaluations, including histories and physicals
  • Diagnose, manage, and treat behavioral health conditions and co-occurring disorders
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic and related medications in accordance with NYS regulations
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and nursing staff in care planning
  • Deliver patient-centered, culturally competent care to diverse populations
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement, and grant-supported initiatives
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers

Requirements
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner License and NYS DEA registration
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or primary care settings
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
