Supervisor – Pharmacy

PHARMACY DEPARTMENT: Part-Time, Weekends Only, Day sift, 15 hrs/week

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, currently seeks experienced Pharmacy Supervisor The Pharmacy supervisor works daily with staff and coordinates and oversees all staff activity and assignments for the efficient functioning of the Department.

This postioin includes responsibility for all dispensing/distribution, profiling and record keeping of medications; dissemination of drug information to other members of the health-care team and to patients to ensure optimum patient care; clinical monitoring of drug therapy, preparation of sterile products and extemporaneous compounds; rotation into all clinical services of the department, including satellite and specialty areas; participation in continuing and in-service education. Responsibilities also include training and guidance of students from the Medical Center’s affiliated Pharmacy School.

DUTIES:

Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, autonomous healthcare professional with 3-5 years hospital experience and prior supervisor experience. Principle duties will entail:

Maintaining department medication inventory and supplies
Monitoring and assuring compliance with legal regulations pertaining to department dispensing activities
Purchasing medications from approved vendors per group and individual contracts
Overseeing and maintaining data processing operation involving materials management as it relates to the EPIC pharmacy system
Participating in Performance Improvement Committee and Drug Use Evaluation program
Managing and supervising investigational drug dispensing and record-keeping
Coordinating hospital 340B program drug acquisition, distribution, and record keeping.
Coordinating Pharmacy IV Admixture Services
Assisting in the long-range planning, development and implementation of department policies and procedures
Coordinating Emergency Medication Management system and the Distribution of Controlled Substances.
Providing technical assistance and support for staff regarding professional and clinical matters.
Managing Drug Distribution via the Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets
Assisting in all aspects of the daily operation, professional, technical, and supportive

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an approved five/six year college of pharmacy, registered as a licensed pharmacist in the State of New York, and be of reputable character. An advanced degree in pharmacy is preferred. 3-5 years experience in a hospital pharmacy in a supervisory capacity.
