Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a member of the MediSys Health Network and a leading trauma center in New York, is seeking three full-time Physician Assistants to join our Department of Surgery. Our team provides 24/7 comprehensive surgical care across multiple specialties, serving a diverse patient population. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled Physician Assistants who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

Position Overview
As a key member of our surgical team, the Physician Assistant will function as a principal healthcare provider, collaborating closely with attending surgeons, residents, and clinical staff to ensure high-quality surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for surgical patients
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Assist in surgical procedures and perform medical procedures as appropriate
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Counsel patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, and healthcare staff for optimal outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (ARC-PA)
  • Current New York State Physician Assistant License
  • NCCPA Certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a collaborative surgical environment
