Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of the Medisys Health Network, is a 404-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and a Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We provide a comprehensive range of medical services, including general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency care, ambulatory surgery, and advanced diagnostic and treatment services.

We are currently seeking a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse for immediate full-time opportunity in our Rehabilitation Unit. Flexible night (7 PM – 7 AM) shift available.

Position Overview:
As a Rehabilitation RN, you will focus on helping patients regain independence and function following an illness, injury, or surgery. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, to develop individualized care plans, and provide direct patient care, education, and emotional support to both patients and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, psychological, and functional needs.
  • Collaborate with physiatrists, physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), and other specialists to develop individualized rehabilitation plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and wound care as prescribed.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including eating, dressing, mobility, and hygiene.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plans, and recovery process.
  • Provide training on self-care techniques and strategies for preventing complications.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting progress, interventions, and changes in condition.
  • Work closely with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements
  • Must have a current and active New York State RN License.
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in rehabilitation nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or acute care preferred.
  • New Graduates who have completed relevant clinical rotations in rehabilitation or med-surg may be considered.
  •  Bilingual a plus
