Nurse Practitioner – Surgery

Full-Time | Day Shift | Weekend Flexibility

Salary: $165,841.36 annually + Differential

Join the surgical team at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a 384-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and accredited Stroke Center, where Nurse Practitioners work alongside surgeons and multidisciplinary teams caring for complex surgical and trauma patients.

This is an opportunity for an experienced NP who is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment and wants to play an active role in the evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of surgical patients.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, histories, and physical examinations of surgical patients
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with attending surgeons and the surgical team
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care
  • Participate in daily rounds and interdisciplinary care planning
  • Perform bedside procedures within approved scope of practice and clinical privileges
  • Respond to changes in patient condition and coordinate appropriate interventions
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, treatment plans, and discharge care
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current New York State RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses
  • Current New York State NP certification appropriate to the patient population
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Prior acute-care surgical experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with surgeons, nursing, and interdisciplinary clinical teams

Schedule Requirement

Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
Day Shift
Must be flexible to work 1–2 weekend days per month

Compensation
$165,841.36 annually + Differential
