OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SUPERVISOR / CHIEF

Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to perform evaluation, treatment, and resident/family/staff education in a SNF Rehab Department. You will work with a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary team. Holiday and weekend coverage required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess the resident’s functional abilities, including physical, cognitive, and sensory components to evaluate the necessity of skilled occupational therapy intervention.
  • Assist residents to achieve goals set forth in the treatment plan by providing neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic activity, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, self-care/home management training, development of cognitive skills, sensory integration techniques, wheelchair management, and splint fabrication.
  • Compile documentation requirements of the profession and the department.
  • Modalities utilized include electrical stimulation and ultrasound.
  • Ensure safety at discharge by providing family/caregiver training, home exercise program, recommendations for assistive/adaptive equipment, and recommendations for continued therapy in the community.
  • Supervise Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, rehab aides, and occupational therapy students in accordance with standards set by the American Occupational Therapy Association as well as working closely with the Rehab Coordinator on various projects and other assignments as needed.
  • Communicate with the health team through team conference, staff in-service and effective documentation in the patient and department records. Keeping the work environment safe and clean, and adhering to infection control and other safety policies.
  • Maintain professional expertise through continued education as necessitated by licensure and as appropriate for the provision of specific treatments. Complies with federal and state professional requirements.
Requirements
  • Graduate of Accredited Master’s program
  • NYS Professional License and Registration
  • EMR competent / Sigmacare preferred
  • SNF experience required
