Jamaica Hospital

Our Department of Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services for those with mental health needs. We seeking a motivated Licensed Clinical Psychologist for the position of Clinical Manager in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.

The Clinical Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the mental health clinic, serves as a liaison between patients and other healthcare professionals, supervises psychologists and social workers.

Provides direct services to patients and is also involved in the supervision and teaching of trainees in the department such as Psychiatry residents and psychology interns. This position is 50% administrative and 50% clinical.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct services such as individual psychotherapy, intake evaluations etc.
  • Working with the Medical Director to oversee the day-to-day operation of the mental health clinic and assure compliance with applicable ambulatory service standards and clinic accreditation.
  • Assigning tasks and supervising the quality of services provided by other clinical staff.
  • Managing internal and external communications, serving as a liaison between patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Performing crisis management.
  • Teaching and supervising trainees in the department.
  • Performing other responsibilities as designated by the department.
Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology or related field (PhD or PsyD)
  • Current License and Registration in NYS
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a management/supervisory role
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (Spanish Preferred)
  • Prior experience working in a community mental health center or hospital-based outpatient clinic
  • Experience working with children
  • Specific interest in teaching and supervision
