Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery
Full-Time | Day & Night 12-Hour Shifts (Flex)

Overview
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking Registered Nurses to join our Labor & Delivery team. As a 384-bed, fully accredited teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center, we provide comprehensive maternal and newborn care to a diverse and high-volume patient population.

These full-time opportunities offer flexible day and night 12-hour shifts, strong clinical collaboration, and the ability to practice at the top of your license in a fast-paced L&D environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor maternal vital signs and fetal heart rate throughout labor and delivery
  • Assess for complications and respond appropriately in emergent situations
  • Assist physicians and midwives during labor, delivery, and cesarean sections
  • Administer medications and support pain management interventions
  • Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Provide immediate newborn care, including assessment and stabilization
  • Support breastfeeding and postpartum recovery
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams

Requirements
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current BCLS, NRP (NALS), and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • Fetal Monitoring Certification required
  • Previous Labor & Delivery experience preferred
  • Candidates with L&D cross-training (Mother/Baby) strongly considered
  • Minimum 2 years Medical Surgical experience accepted for transition into L&D
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills
  • Alternate weekend schedule required
