The role of the Education Specialist is to develop, plan, organize, and implement the departmental mission and goals in providing multi-disciplinary educational support to the organization.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Provision of educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care within established clinical protocols.

·         Collaboration with patient care staff and unit management in the planning, implementing, and delivering educational curricula.

·         Initiation of clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models.

·         Implementation of educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.

·         Serves as a clinical resource for unit management and team members to ensure quality patient care.

·         Educates team members using new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops.

Creates an effective learning environment.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of technology.
Evaluate the outcomes of staff education.
Functions in the roles of both teacher and facilitator.
Implements various teaching strategies tailored to the learner’s characteristics learning needs, cultural perspectives, and outcome objectives.
·         Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Education/Skills: Current NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse Current BLS / ACLS certification; BLS/ACLS Instructor preferred Master’s degree in nursing Demonstrated clinical experience and expertise in Emergency Room/ Critical Care patient nursing services. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Effective interpersonal skills and proven leadership ability Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
