HVAC LEAD

PLANT OPERATIONS                                                    

 Jamaica Hospital Medical Center located in Queens, NY has an immediate employment opportunity for a full-time day shift HVAC Forman with supervisory and significant experience installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems.    

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisors, the selected candidate will supervise and coordinate the operations, maintenance, and service repairs on facility heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.  Overseeing the installation of new units and replacement parts.   

SPECIFIC DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:  

  • Distributing and scheduling work for HVAC staff.  
  • Overseeing & Inspecting all work performed by assigned staff.  
  • Maintaining, servicing, and repairing AHUs, motors, RTUs, Exhaust fans, Split Units, Humidifiers, and related HVAC equipment.  
  • Providing technical assistance, training, and support for HVAC staff.   
  • Informing Engineering Supervisor of abnormalities or field conditions that may prevent assignments from being performed in a timely manner.  
  • Assessing & recommending safety and skills training of assigned staff to ensure a well-developed HVAC Shop.  
  • Maintaining shop inventory.  
  • Troubleshooting HVAC systems & controls.  
  • Balancing ductwork and adjusting diffusers.  
  • Supervising and implementing a preventative maintenance program.   
  • Performing the responsibilities of HVAC A as needed.  
Requirements
  • Must have current or recent experience directly supervising and overseeing HVAC staff.  (SORRY NO EXCEPTIONS)  
  • High School diploma or equivalent.  
  • Must have clean NYS Driver's license. 
  • NYC Certificate of Qualification for Refrigeration System Operation   
  • Other FDNY Certificates of Fitness for working in a Hospital as required  
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Provide evidence of performance in a leadership role  
  • Required to obtain all FDNY Certificates of Fitness within six months of employment.  
  • Strong working technical knowledge and understanding of HVAC, and associated infrastructure.   

SALARY: $30.82/hr. -  $32.29/hr.
