The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Individual Residential Alternative is a six-bed (IRA) for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Operated under the regulatory guidance of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), our IRA staff focuses on promoting independence and preparing adults with developmental disabilities to become productive members of their communities.

We are currently seeking caring, dedicated, and compassionate Direct Support Professionals for immediate full-time evening shift  opportunity in our TBI Unit.

DUTIES:      

  • Supporting individuals with their activities of daily living
  • Accompanying individuals to medical appointments
  • Administering medication(s) and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Assisting with preparing and serving meals.
  • Accompanying individuals to and from appointments and activities.
  • Providing companionship while engaging in productive activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum High School or General Equivalency degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years current/recent experience working within developmental disabilities
  • Must have AMAP, SCIP-R, and BLS certification
  • Must have a clean NYS Driver’s license. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion to help others and make a difference in someone's life
