CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER

INPATIENT PSYCHIATRY

The Inpatient Psychiatry Service Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is comprised of two 28-bed adult inpatient units.  Our inpatient psychiatric services are provided by a staff of caring professionals including psychiatrists, social workers, creative arts therapists, and nurses.   

We are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager for an immediate full-time leadership opportunity.  Our ideal candidate will be an excellent, open, receptive communicator with a proven leadership record and psychiatric inpatient background.

DUTIES

As a clinical nurse manager, you will be reasonable for evaluating the performance of staff nurses. Providing ongoing feedback, clinical support, and mentoring.  Developing education programs to both inspire and facilitate the growth and professional development of nursing staff.  Interviewing and hiring nurses and medical staff.  Advising and assisting in developing departmental budgets.  Maintaining medicine, equipment, and supply inventory.  In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively serving as a liaison and representative to advocate and promote the best interest of staff and patients.
  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance to unit nursing staff
  • Ensuring staff training and development.
  • Addressing personnel issues to promote productive and supportive work environment.
  • Monitoring patient care for quality.
  • Collaborating with senior management, interdisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services
  • Applying evidence-based healthcare practices and nursing standards.
  • Reviewing patient and staff data to measure and ensure the effectiveness of patient care.
Requirements
  • Current NYS RN License required
  • BCLS certification
  • Minimum BSN.  MSN preferred
  • Strong business acumen and communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be Clinical Expert with minimum 2 – 5 years related RN management experience in Psychiatry or Behavioral Health
