Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a 408 bed facility located in Queens NY.  The Admitting Department is a fast-paced environment. Admitting is a very essential part of our organization by providing constant and accurate patient flow ensuring patient safety as well as providing the best customer service to our patients and their families 

We are currently seeking a Bilingual Spanish speaking Admitting Representative for our Admitting Department. The selected candidate will also serve as a Birth Registrar. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Interviews admitted patients or representatives for clinical, financial and demographic data and subsequently enters that information into the NYC Department of Health’s Electronic Birth Registration System (EVital). 
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties and data input related to Birth Certificate Applications, Corrections, Acknowledgement of Parentage (AOP), Stillbirth Certificates and Induced Termination of Pregnancy (ITOP) Certificates.  
  • Has knowledge of hospital EMR (Epic) system and utilizes assigned work queues and reports within Epic to perform duties.   
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency, college degree preferred. 
  • 1-2 years’ experience in medical environment, patient registration and insurance verification
  • Bilingual spanish speaking REQUIRED!
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, EPIC preferred
  • Highly skilled computer proficiency required, i.e. word processing, data entry.
  • Excellent customer service skills
