PHARMACY DEPARTMENT

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a Queens-based 404-bed hospital and Level I Trauma Center.  Healthgrades 2020 America’s Best Hospital report, has ranked us in the top 5% in the Nation for Clinical Excellence.    We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and unparalleled approach in providing the highest quality and most cost-effective service to the many culturally diverse, residents in Queens.  We are currently seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant for an immediate F/T position in our Pharmacy Department.  

DUTIES: The position of Administrative Assistant works with the Director, Assistant Director, and all Administrative Staff of the Pharmacy Department in carrying out Pharmacy policies, procedures, and operations. Specific duties will encompass the following:

  • Maintaining departmental policy and procedure manual.
  • Utilizing Kronos software system to prepare and monitor staff schedules and time and attendance records.
  • Updating, revising, and creating requisitions and departmental forms.
  • Maintaining and managing hospital and pharmacy purchase orders.
  • Managing visitor screening process and inbound telephone calls.
  • Coordinating staff competency, licensure, registration, and corporate compliance.

The selected candidate will also perform all clerical duties including typing, copying, creation, and modification of documents, and forms.

Requirements
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree or Technical School equivalent.
  • MUST HAVE current/recent experience and demonstrated advanced computer proficiency with (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in person, in writing, or by telephone.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Previous experience in a Healthcare/Medical setting is highly preferred.
