JUNIOR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SPECIALIST

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a 384-bed fully accredited community teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Employee Benefits Specialist to join our Benefits team. As part of one of New York City’s leading healthcare organizations, you will play a key role in supporting employee benefits administration and ensuring our employees receive exceptional service and support.

Position Summary

The Junior Employee Benefits Specialist provides administrative and operational support for the employee benefits function. Under the guidance of the Benefits team, this role assists with benefits enrollment, eligibility verification, employee inquiries, data entry, reporting, and compliance-related activities while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of employee information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs including Medical,

Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Retirement Plans (401(k)/403(b)).
• Review and process benefit enrollment forms for new hires and existing employees.
• Verify employee eligibility for benefit programs.
• Enter and maintain employee benefits information within system.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefit plans, enrollment, coverage, and eligibility.
• Assist with new hire orientation presentations related to employee benefits.
• Support annual Open Enrollment activities and employee communications.
• Generate reports and audit benefits data for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Human Resources, and insurance vendors to resolve benefits-related issues.
• Maintain confidential employee records in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Assist in preparing benefit communication materials, presentations, and educational resources.
• Perform general administrative duties in support of the Department.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Requirements • Associate’s degree required. • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. • 0–2 years of Human Resources, Benefits Administration, Payroll, or related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Experience with Lawson, Infor, Kronos, or other HRIS systems preferred. • Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
