REGISTERED NURSE – EMERGENCY ROOM PSYCH NURSING

SHIFT:  7 pm – 7 am

The Department of Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services for those with mental health needs. Our services include Psychiatric Emergency, Outpatient and Inpatient Psychiatry services, a Mobile Crisis Unit and an Inpatient Chemical Dependency Unit.  Our Psychiatric nurses work closely with patients to help them manage their mental illnesses and live productive, fulfilling lives. We are currently seeking experienced registered nurses for an immediate full-time flex night shift opportunities in our Psychiatric ER Department.

DUTIES:   As an RN, on our Adult CPEP Unit you will provide treatment modalities to outpatient and extended observation clients treating and providing direct care to patients with varying mental health and or behavioral health issues

• Assessing, triaging and providing stabilizing treatment for individuals with mild to acute psychiatric disorders.
• Observing, charting and monitoring patient symptoms and behaviors.
• Administering PRN medications.
• Utilizing de-escalation techniques to facilitate compliance with medication and treatment goals.
• Assisting psychiatrists and other physicians in developing detailed treatment plans.
