Registered Nurse – Women’s Health Center

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Women’s Health Center is a state-of-the-art outpatient facility dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate healthcare to women in our community. Our expert, multilingual team includes obstetricians, gynecologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, and registered nurses, all committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

We are currently seeking experienced BSN-level Registered Nurses for full-time clinical positions within our Women’s Health Service.

About the Women’s Health Center
Originally a small OB/GYN office, our facility has grown into a modern center with 15 exam rooms and three procedure rooms, designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of women. Our integrated services include:

  • Prenatal & Reproductive Health: Centering Pregnancy (group prenatal care), routine GYN exams, prenatal screenings, high-risk obstetrics, and infertility treatment.
  • Preventive Care: Mammograms, Pap smears, HPV testing, bone density testing, and cancer screenings.
  • Gynecologic & Specialty Services: Urogynecology, treatment for gynecologic conditions, minimally invasive surgery, and endometrial biopsies.
  • Sexual & Reproductive Health: Family planning, contraception options, STD testing/treatment.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Diabetic counseling and referrals for colposcopy and colonoscopy.
  • Oncology & Cancer Screenings: Free screenings for cervical, breast, and colorectal cancer through the NYSDOH-funded Cancer Services Program.

We offer extended evening and weekend hours and accept most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. A sliding fee scale is available for uninsured patients.

Position Overview
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our outpatient Women’s Health Center, you will play a vital role in providing preventive care, chronic condition management, and clinical support in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
  • Administer medications (oral, injectable, and IV therapy) as prescribed.
  • Provide patient education on treatment plans, self-care, and preventive health.
  • Assist with pain management and wound care.
  • Perform blood draws and laboratory specimen collection.

Clinical Support & Procedures:

  • Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgical procedures, and diagnostic tests.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments and report any changes.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation.
  • Assist with triage and care prioritization.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Current New York State RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in a fast-paced outpatient setting preferred.
  • Experience working with pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $53.14/hour + differentials
  • Full 1199 Union Benefits
