REGISTERED NURSE – NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU)

About the Unit:
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Level III NICU is a 19-bed unit providing 24/7 care for premature and critically ill newborns. Staffed by experienced neonatologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists, the unit delivers comprehensive care using the latest medical technologies and evidence-based practices.

We are seeking experienced NICU Registered Nurses to join our multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for professionals who are confident working in a high-acuity environment and are skilled in neonatal critical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess the condition of neonatal patients
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and other prescribed therapies
  • Operate and maintain specialized NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, incubators)
  • Provide feedings, including NG/G-tube or bottle/breast milk support
  • Assist with or perform medical procedures (e.g., intubation, CPR, PICC line insertion)
  • Communicate clearly with neonatologists and care teams
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
  • Support and educate families throughout the infant’s NICU stay

Requirements
  • MUST HAVE Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
  • Current NYS RN License.
  • BSN degree  preferred.
  • MUST HAVE a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience
  • ACLS/BLS required.
  • Must have strong observational and critical thinking skills.
