Nurse Externs/Summer 2025

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is hiring for Nurse Externs for 2022 Summer Program.

Fantastic opportunity for nursing students to gain clinical experience in a Level I Trauma Center
Join us for our annual “Student Nurse Paid Summer Externship.”
This unique 9-week externship gives student nurses the opportunity to practice hands-on patient care. The experience begins with an assignment to a unit and a preceptor RN who will provide the student nurse extern with the support and guidance needed to grow professionally.
In addition to direct patient care, additional experiences are arranged for student nurse externs to observe in the Emergency Department and the Critical Care areas.
Upon successful completion of the program there will be Post-Graduate Employment Opportunities and Preferential Placement for the student nurse externs.

Requirements
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited RN/BSN program and must have completed 2 semesters of clinical nursing rotation in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum GPA 3.5 in the nursing curriculum
  • Available to work flexible 12-hour shifts /Days or Nights
  • Must have BLS from American Heart Association
  • Must provide letters of recommendations from your program instructor
