HOSPITAL PAINTER A

1199 Union Position | Full-Time

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center
$32.81 per Hour

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a 384-bed teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center, and member of the MediSys Health Network, is seeking an experienced Painter A to join our Plant Operations team.

This is not an entry-level or residential painting position. Applicants must possess professional commercial, institutional, healthcare, or industrial painting experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled painting and finishing work throughout hospital facilities.
  • Prepare surfaces by patching, plastering, sanding, scraping, and priming.
  • Repair drywall/sheetrock and other wall and ceiling surfaces.
  • Apply paints, stains, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Mix and match paint colors and finishes as required.
  • Assist with renovation, construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
  • Remove debris resulting from construction, demolition, and maintenance activities.
  • Perform additional duties as required during hospital emergencies.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of Painter B experience or equivalent professional commercial painting experience.
  • Experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or industrial painting environments.
  • Skilled in drywall/sheetrock repair, plastering, patching, surface preparation, paint application, and color matching.
  • Experience using brushes, rollers, and spray-paint equipment.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and related painting equipment.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, alternate shifts, and emergency assignments as needed.
