Maintenance Workers – Plant Operations

Shift: Full-Time, Day Shift (flexibility may be required)
Salary: $30.19/hr.

About Us:
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, part of the Medisys Health Network, is a 384-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and a Level I Trauma & Stroke Center. We provide comprehensive medical, pediatric, and psychiatric services, including emergency care, ambulatory surgery, and advanced diagnostic services. Join our Plant Operations team and play a critical role in keeping our facility safe, efficient, and operational for patients, staff, and visitors.

Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support our Plant Operations Department. The ideal candidates are skilled, hands-on, and safety-conscious, with prior experience in building engineering, facility management, or hospital maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with or perform general maintenance across multiple facility systems under the guidance of the Lead General Mechanic.
  • Inspect equipment and building systems to troubleshoot and identify issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor welding, plumbing, electrical repairs, and carpentry.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in engineering areas.
  • Perform groundskeeping tasks, including snow removal and walkway safety.
  • Operate hand and power tools, as well as equipment such as snow blowers, tractors, bobcats, and salt spreaders.
  • Participate in team cleanups and other projects to maintain a safe and efficient hospital environment.

Requirements
  • Must have H.S. or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Must have a clean NYS Driver’s License.
  • Basic Reading, writing, and math skills.
  • 3 Years (hospital experience preferred) or skills including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and other maintenance skills in a corporate setting.
  • May be required to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, when required by the supervisor.
  • Driving a company vehicle is required.
