Assistant Nurse Manager – Emergency Department (Level 1 Trauma)

Lead in One of New York’s Busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers

Join a high-performing Emergency Department where every shift demands strong leadership, clinical expertise, and rapid decision-making. This is a hands-on role for an experienced ER RN ready to step into management while remaining actively involved in patient care.

Position Overview

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ED operations including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation
  • Provide direct patient care in a Level 1 Trauma setting as needed
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Requirements
  • Active RN license (New York State)
  • BSN required; Master’s preferred
  • 3–5+ years Emergency Department experience, ideally in a Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Prior leadership or Charge Nurse experience strongly preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong leadership, clinical judgment, and communication skills
