Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and approach in providing the highest levels of professional, compassionate care to the many underserved patients and residents in Queens. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Language Assistance Program Coordinator for an immediate full-time day shift position in our Language Assistance Program. The Language Assistance Program at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of interpreter services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients.

 

SENIOR LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR DUTIES:

· Support day-to-day translation project management

· Respond to standard and rapid response requests

· Liaise with vendors and internal patients

· Track and troubleshoot projects

· Deliver final translations following project instructions, guidelines and deadlines

· Coordinate virtual interpretation requests

· Build and maintain resources to improve language service delivery (style guides, glossaries, term bases, translation memories, etc.)

· Conduct monthly report/project for performance improvement in language assistance service.

· Assist in translating, editing and typesetting English to Spanish (or other language) materials.

· Work with vendors to provide secondary reviews for translated materials

· Reconcile invoices from multiple language service providers

· Track and analyze demand for services and budget

· Assist in expansion of language services across other offices, including providing training

· Compile monthly and yearly reporting of translation and interpretation indicators

· Procure new language services/equipment; help with other language access projects

· Tend to monthly and yearly reporting of translation and interpretation indicators

· Aid in the procurement of new language services and equipment

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred

· NIC or CHI Certifications

· Experience overseeing a team, preferably in a medical setting

· Able to travel between Jamaica and Flushing Hospitals

· Must possess strong time management skills, and be flexible in duties
