Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Risk Management Clinical Coordinator to join our team onsite and play a key role in advancing patient and organizational safety initiatives.

Why This Role is Vital

In this position, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that impact patients, staff, and the organization. You will lead proactive risk assessments and investigations designed to prevent harm, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and reduce legal and financial exposure.

You will collaborate closely with clinical teams and hospital leadership to promote a strong culture of safety and support safer patient care across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

This role includes conducting comprehensive risk assessments, incident investigations, and Root Cause Analyses (RCA); preparing timely and accurate reports for regulatory agencies; and developing strategies to reduce clinical and operational risk.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Leading safety education and training initiatives
  • Reviewing medical records and preparing detailed event summaries
  • Supporting policy development and continuous quality improvement efforts
  • Partnering with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen risk management systems

Our Ideal Candidate

This role is best suited for professionals with a strong background in “ICU, Emergency Department, Step-Down/Telemetry, PACU, L&D, NICU, or other high-acuity inpatient or procedural environments who can apply advanced clinical judgment to patient safety and risk management.

We are seeking candidates with experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), incident reporting, and clinical event investigation, with a strong focus on systems-based thinking rather than individual blame.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong patient safety and quality improvement mindset
  • Experience reviewing clinical incidents and identifying system-level risks
  • Ability to analyze documentation and generate clear, accurate reports
  • Confidence communicating with physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital administration
  • Ability to present findings and recommendations in a clear, professional manner
  • A proactive approach to reducing risk and improving patient outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s preferred
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
  • 3–5 years of acute hospital experience, preferably in critical care or emergency nursing
  • Strong clinical documentation review, reporting, and data management skills
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Motivated RNs with acute hospital experience may be considered; training available

JOB DETAILS:

  • Full-time, Day Shift
  • Salary Range: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
