REGISTERED NURSE – LABOR AND DELIVERY (L&D) 12 HOUR SHIFTS

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off-campus, ambulatory surgery, and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. We are currently seeking experienced Labor and Delivery Nurses for immediate full-time opportunities.

Selected candidates will help expectant women through the birthing process, assisting with complications, and caring for mothers and infants after deliveries.

DUTIES

• Educating and preparing new parents before, during, and after delivery of their baby
• Monitoring the baby’s heartbeat during labor
• Monitoring mother’s blood pressure during labor
• Identifying possible complications as they arise
• Helping to administer epidurals and other medications
• Performing diagnostic tests as needed
• Monitoring newborns after birth
• Keeping detailed records of the birth process
• Aiding new mothers as they adapt to breastfeeding
• Consulting with physicians or midwives regarding the mother and baby and their conditions.
