DEPARTMENT: PRE-HOSPITAL CARE

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Department of Pre-Hospital Care provides emergency ambulance service to communities serviced by Jamaica Hospital Medical Center through the New York City 911 system. Our highly skilled emergency medical technicians and paramedics provide basic and advanced life support care 24-hours each and every day. Our history of providing ambulance services to the community dates back to the early 1900s. To date, we are among the largest hospital-based ambulance operators in the city of New York. Currently, we are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Coordinator for our Pre-Hospital Care department. Within this challenging role, you will be responsible for reviewing all Pre Hospital Call reports and for developing and implementing timely appropriate remediation actions to address necessary review findings.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for evaluating and reviewing Pre-hospital Care Reports for both Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support.
  • Reviewing and maintaining Narcotic Usage forms and logs pertaining to Advance Life Support units within the Network.
  • Maintaining Quality Assurance/ Quality Improvement logs.
  • Preparing and submitting remediation reports to the Assistant Director.
  • Responsible for the remediation of Prehospital Care employees relating to substandard documentation or protocol violations.
  • Coordinating in-services training of Prehospital Care personnel regarding protocol or procedural changes.
Requirements
  • Must have current NYS EMT – Paramedic & REMAC Certification
  • New York State Driver’s License.
  • Minimum High School Diploma - College degree preferred.
  • Previous Pre-hospital Care experience as a Paramedic required. 
  • Good verbal, written, communication, organizational, and time management skills required. 
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with hospital standards required. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure required.
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations required.
  • Knowledge of Pre-hospital Emergency Medical practices, procedures, and standards required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Current and active certification as an Instructor Coordinator in NYS is desirable.
