Director of Social Work
Department of Psychiatry – Jamaica Hospital Medical Center

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Director of Social Work with exceptional leadership skills to oversee social work programs and services within our Department of Psychiatry. This critical role involves managing and supporting a team of social workers to ensure the effective delivery of services while upholding legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Mobile Crisis Team, Inpatient Social Workers, and Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) staff.
  • Ensure the effectiveness, accessibility, and alignment of social work services with hospital goals.
  • Manage social work program budgets and resource allocation.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and programs to enhance service delivery.
  • Assess and improve program effectiveness through continuous evaluation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations to promote integrated patient care.
  • Represent the Social Work Department in meetings with senior leadership, community organizations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and mentor social work staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing social work practices.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary actions for social work personnel.
  • Work closely with psychiatric leadership to drive quality assurance and clinical service improvements across programs.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with in-depth knowledge of hospital operations.
  • Minimum of five years in a medical, clinical, administrative, or managerial role within a healthcare setting.
  • At least three years of experience working with severely mentally ill populations and knowledge of available community resources.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and guide teams effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with a focus on team collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting Salary: $125,000+ (Negotiable)
