PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT – GENERAL SURGERY

The Department of General Surgery at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides innovative and comprehensive surgical care to treat patients with a wide range of rare and complex conditions. Our team of highly trained and experienced surgeons use the latest minimally invasive technology and surgical interventions to treat patients. 

We are currently seeking F/T Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners  with prior General Surgery experience to join our team.  Our ideal candidates will be flexible, willing, and able to work a combination of days, nights, and weekends.

DUTIES: 

As a Physician Assistant in our Surgery Department, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including medicine, pre-op, post-op, and discharge responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will include: 

• Taking initial patient histories and performing physical examinations. 
• Evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and managing treatment plans 
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests 
• Counseling patients 
• Performing various medical procedures and assisting in surgical operations 
• Conferring with attending physicians, residents, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
