Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center.  Our Plant Operations Department offers comprehensive services including a full range of building trades services which are responsible for routine maintenance and minor/major space alterations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, grounds maintenance, locksmith, custodial, moving, and setup services.  We are currently seeking experienced Painter B for an immediate full-time day shift opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction and supervision of the Lead Painter, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

• Selecting premixed paints and or preparing paint to match specified colors.
• Blending and mixing colors, pigment, oil, thinning, and drying substances.
• Applying compound and plaster to horizontal and vertical surfaces.
• Smoothing surfaces using sandpaper or other material/equipment.
• Filling holes, cracks, and joints with plaster, joint compound or other fillers.
• Maintaining, repairing, and applying finishes in hospital spaces.
• Painting door bucks, metal & wood frames.
• Removing debris from renovations/or construction areas.
• Utilizing basic carpentry tools, such as screw guns and sheetrock knives.
• Removing and installing basic wall and ceiling fixtures to prepare for painting or hanging wall coverings.
