The Department of Rehabilitation at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services and is staffed with highly skilled therapists and physicians, trained to treat a wide variety of neuromuscular or musculoskeletal injuries, traumatic brain injuries/neurological injuries, pain syndromes, and other disabilities. This premier distinction is only given to hospitals that rank in the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical excellence.  The Rehab Department is currently looking for a full-time Office Assistant.

The Rehab Office Assistant will be responsible for entering, and maintaining patient recommendation consults and various clerical duties in Rehabilitation Services, such as answering telephones, completing forms and corresponding with medical professionals and the Rehab Therapy staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs clerical and administrative task including drafting letters, emails, create reports, purchase requests, recordkeeping and other documents
  • Retrieves information as requested from records, email, and other related documents
  • Answering phones/filing
  • Payroll entry

 

Requirements
  • High school Diploma or equivalency required. Associates degree preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience in healthcare (preference not required)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft excel a must) general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and record management, office administrative, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems
  • Ability to type (35 w.p.m.)
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to operate and monitor computer equipment including various software programs and other business office equipment.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
