Description:

The Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories at Flushing Hospital is a state-of-the-art, full-service laboratory that performs approximately 1.5 million tests annually to help detect, diagnose and prevent disease. The department includes the clinical divisions of Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy. We are currently seeking a Morgue Attendant for an immediate  Per Diem opportunity in our Pathology Department.  

The morgue attendant is responsible for performing a variety of duties required to assist Pathologist in performing autopsies. The Morgue Attendant is responsible for maintaining all records to document the receipt and release of bodies, fetuses and body parts. The Morgue Attendant is also responsible for maintaining the morgue and related supplies, equipment and areas in safe and hygienic manner. The Morgue Attendant will store and retrieve surgical specimens and will treat and discard all laboratory biohazard waste in accordance with state regulations. The Morgue Attendant will assist all department of the Laboratory Department with various, specific tasks. The Morgue Attendant will coordinate efforts with the Admitting Department to ensure proper and prompt release of cadavers stored in the morgue
