Flushing Hospital Medical Center is a 293-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital. The hospital offers a variety of services for a culturally diverse community, including Bariatric Surgical Service, Ambulatory Care Center, Women’s Health Center, Wound Care Center, and Chemical Dependence Unit. Our busy on-site full-service pharmacy provides prescription services to discharged, emergency department, and clinic patients as well as employees. The Department of Ambulatory Care at Flushing Hospital Medical Center is seeking experienced Medical Assistants for immediate full-time opportunities to join our Ambulatory Care Clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for conducting screening and intake procedures with patients and their caregivers.
  • Performing but not limited to other tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.
  • Greeting patients and their caregivers on arrival.
  • Utilizing PC terminal and software programs to input, update and retrieve patient data and records.
  • Communicating and relaying pertinent information to appropriate office staff.
  • Assisting patients and caregivers with information regarding office procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Addressing patient inquires, concerns, and complaints.
  • Performing general administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
  • HS diploma required.
  • Must have Medical Assistant Certificate & BLS Certification from (American Heart Association).
  • Minimum 1-2 years current or recent MA experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Medical Terminology required. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Must be able to work one weekend day every other weekend experience.
