Patient Access Representative – Medical Assistant

$29.59/hr. + Full 1199 Union Benefits

At Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Patient Access Representatives do more than check patients in. This is a hands-on Medical Assistant role combining patient access responsibilities with direct clinical support.

We are looking for experienced Medical Assistants who can move comfortably between the front desk and the clinical setting while providing patients with a professional, efficient and welcoming experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Register, check in and check out patients
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals and insurance authorizations
  • Perform patient intake and obtain vital signs
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKGs
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff as needed
  • Document patient information accurately in the EMR
  • Help maintain an efficient patient flow from arrival through completion of the visit

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Medical Assistant training and experience required
  • Hands-on phlebotomy and EKG skills required
  • Previous experience in a hospital, medical office, clinic or outpatient setting preferred
  • EMR experience; EPIC experience preferred
  • Strong patient service, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, patient-facing healthcare environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
