International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

Flushing Hospital Medical Center is a 293-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital. The hospital offers a variety of services for a culturally diverse community, including Bariatric Surgical Service, Ambulatory Care Center, Women’s Health Center, Wound Care Center, and Chemical Dependence Unit. Our busy on-site full-service pharmacy provides prescription services to discharged, emergency department, and clinic patients as well as employees. We are currently seeking an experienced Pharmacy Supervisor for an immediate full-time evening shift.

The International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is a certified individual through IBCLC board who has demonstrated clinical skills and knowledge within the specialty of lactation. Assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of breastfeeding are standards of care. Providing age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care of the neonate and postpartum and antepartum mother and family. Maintenance of a safe environment, education of parents about practices related to infant feeding and treatments. Providing care in a family center approach while ensuring continuity of care. Communication of care as well as coordination of care across settings and among care givers. Community outreach, one-on-one counseling, group education ,telehealth and education of staff members are requirements of the role of the IBCLC.
