The Emergency Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a fully-equipped, comprehensive Level I trauma treatment area. We offer state-of-the-art patient care. 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 117,000 patients annually. We are staffed with an expert team of Board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse assistants along with robust support staff including respiratory therapists, social workers, and case managers. We’re looking for Experienced Emergency Room Nurses for the immediate full-time day,  night, and per diem shift opportunities.  Our ideal candidate will have prior ER experience working in a Level I Trauma facility.  Must be able to handle the challenges of a fast-paced emergency room, be quick-thinking, with strong assessment skills, and have the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.

DUTIES

  • Responsible for handling initial patient assessments, performing laboratory work, point of care testing, and associated administrative tasks.
  • Assessing and treating a wide variety of life-threatening and non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses
  • Administering medication, cleaning lacerations, taking blood work, inserting IVs and assisting physicians in and out of the emergency room with patients in pain and with life-threatening trauma.
  • Prioritizing and managing multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Documenting detailed records of patient vital signs and treatment responses.
  • Collaborating with ER doctors on discharge plans and creating outpatient instructions.
  • Recommending  treatment options to attending physician

Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program – BSN preferred
  • NY State RN License required
  • MUST HAVE Minimum 3-5 years’ ER, M/S OR CC experience.
  • BLS, ACLS required
  • Must have strong assessment skills and the ability to work in high-stress situations
