Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC) located in Queens, NY seeks experienced Coordinator for an employment opportunity in our Language Assistance Program (LAP). We serve a diverse community and pride ourselves on offering a variety of language assistance services to Limited English Proficient (LEP), deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired patients and/or their companions. Our ideal candidate will have significant experience facilitating the provision of interpretation and translations services for LEP, deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: • Monitor systems implemented to meet regulatory and accreditation standards. • Prepare senior management reports regarding LAP data and activities. • Educate and train JHMC team members regarding LAP and LEP policy requirements. • Coordinate Qualified Medical Interpreter training to ensure that all Qualified Medical Interpreters meet hospital requirements. • Coordinate the scheduling of interpreter services and process translation services requests. • Monitor usage of telephonic interpreter services. • Maintain interpreter database and regularly update the Hospital language bank.
