The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center's  MediSys Health Network provides emergency ambulance services in the New York City 911 system and operates one of the largest hospital-based ambulance services within the five boroughs of New York City.  Our MediSys Ambulance teams provide emergency response and inter-facility transports to and from hospitals, private residences, and doctor’s offices on a pre-scheduled or emergent basis. We are currently seeking Call Center Associates for several immediate per diem assignments in our Transportation Coordination Center.

DUTIES:      

As a Call Center Associate, you’ll be responsible for the daily Operations of the Transportation Coordination Center.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Creating daily work schedules for drivers. Monitoring drivers and making adjustments to schedules when needed. Coordinating communications during disasters following hospital disaster policy and procedures. Receiving emergent and non-emergent requests for patient movement from Jamaica Hospital Medical Center sites.  Receiving routine and urgent requests for departments serviced by Motor Transportation.  Coordinating radio, cellular, paging, and communications between all drivers and different departments. Coordinating transportation needs of staff using outside vendors. Maintaining daily logs and registers. Maintaining computer records.  Input call data into the computer.  Complete additional assignments as directed by supervisory staff.  Managing and forwarding paperwork logs and ambulance call reports.

 

Requirements
  • MUST HAVE Current New York State Emergency Medical Technician Certification or higher.
  • New York State Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Previous on-the-job computer/database experience is required.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment is an asset.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Good organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with hospital standards required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure required.
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations required.
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and standards is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
