The Department of Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services for those with mental health needs. We operate two community mobile crisis teams as part of our comprehensive emergency psychiatric services. Our team provides care to patients who are either unable or unwilling to receive continuing outpatient psychiatric services.

The Mobile Crisis team, comprised of a coordinator, certified social worker, and psychiatrist, visits the homes of both recently discharged patients and newly referred patients seven days a week. The purpose of the Mobile Crisis Team is to perform initial screenings or ongoing assessment and stabilization.

We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join our Mobile Crisis team. In this role, she/he will directly report to the Administrative Supervisor and/or Director of the Psychiatric Mobile Crisis Unit.

Core Responsibilities:

  •  The Administrative Assistant will provide the Supervisor and Director with support
  • Services in the Department’s day-to-day activities.
  • · Preparing, typing, and editing documents
  • · Assist in maintaining and performing file management and record-keeping systems
  • · Answering telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • · Assisting with ordering and maintaining all office supplies
  • · Maintains constant communication with Supervisors and Director.
  • · Checking and updating Health-First client’s demography when applicable.
  • · Generate daily, weekly and monthly Health-First reports.
  • · Input all new health first referrals during shift.
  • · Assist the team with the completion of Maven.
  • · Assist with on-boarding of new employees.
  • · Assist with payroll processing.
Requirements

 

  • · Our ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Microsoft
  • Applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • · Ability to type 30 wpm.
  • · Must have at minimum a High School degree or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • · Exceptional Verbal, and written skills.
  • · The ideal candidate should possess the ability to prioritize work and perform in a fast-paced environment and work independently.

Shift hours available: 9:00 am -5:30 pm
