Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is actively recruiting Social Workers for various inpatient units, including Medical Surgical and Float units. The roles are full-time, offering a salary range of $38.24 to $51.70 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO) and comprehensive 1199 Union benefits. The schedule includes rotating weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling to patients and families to cope with anxiety, fear, and stress related to illness or injury.
• Develop discharge plans that address patients’ mobility and accessibility needs.
• Assist patients in accessing financial and emotional resources.
• Organize and lead peer support groups to facilitate recovery.
• Advocate for patients’ emotional and social needs within the healthcare system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess and plan for patients’ discharge needs.
• Investigate cases of suspected child abuse or neglect and initiate necessary referrals.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments to inform safe discharge planning.
• Connect patients with community or social service programs to meet complex needs.
