Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center.

We are currently seeking a fulltime Patient Information Representative for immediate opportunity in our in our Mother Baby Unit.  As a Patient Information Representative, you’ll be a vital member of our OBGYN Department. Our ideal candidate must be flexible and able to work variable day or evening shifts.

DUTIES

  • Utilizing EPIC software to input, update and retrieve patient data
  • Assisting patients in obtaining services, understanding policies and making health care decisions.
  • Assembling charts for patient admissions.
  • Coordinating communication between patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, or regulatory agencies.
  • Interviewing patients or their representatives to identify problems relating to care.
  • Maintaining knowledge of community services and resources available to patients.
  • Referring patients to appropriate health care services or resources.
  • Investigating and directing patient inquiries or complaints to appropriate medical staff members and follow up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Assisting and explaining policies, procedures, or services to patients.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish, Bengali, or Hind) / English
  • Must have AHA approved BLS
  • Must have current/recent EPIC experience
  • One-year secretarial experience required.
  • Prior OR scheduling experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be adept in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • MUST be able to float as needed between day or evening shifts.
