We are currently seeking experienced Patient Care Assistants (PCA) for immediate Full-Time opportunities in our Psychiatry Unit. This is a great opportunity for compassionate individuals eager to make a difference in patient care.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Jamaica Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with daily living activities, under the supervision of registered nurses. Your key responsibilities will include assisting patients with personal care, mobility, and other basic needs, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their hospital stay.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, and changing clothes.
  • Assist patients with walking, transferring to wheelchairs, and repositioning in bed.
  • Serve meals, assist with feeding, and monitor food intake for patients who require assistance.
  • Take and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.rate.
  • Change bed linens, assist with toileting, and help collect specimens.
  • Report changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing staff.
  • Escort patients to other departments for tests or procedures.
  • Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and well-maintained.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (PCT/PCA)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Recent phlebotomy and 12-lead EKG experience required
  • Strong basic computer skills
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, rapid-response trauma setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior hospital experience, especially in an emergency room or critical care environment
  • Experience handling high-acuity and behavioral health patients
  • 1–2 years of inpatient care experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered care approach
