OBSTETRIC TECHNICIAN – LABOR & DELIVERY

Hours: Full Time,  3 pm – 11:30 pm                                                             Alternating weekends

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Our goal is to improve the health of our community by working closely with our patients, families primary care physicians and other health providers.  We are currently seeking an experienced certified OB Technician for immediate full time evening shift opportunity.

Selected candidate will assist obstetricians, gynecologists and nursing staff by participating in direct and indirect patient care.  Providing high-quality care to patients throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Assisting in the delivery room, postpartum unit, and other obstetric care areas.  Preparing patients for procedures, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both mothers and newborns.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Assisting in Obstetrical Triage (OBT) area
• Arriving patients in the EMR (Epic, Centricity)
• Obtaining and notifying RN of patient vital signs.
• Assisting in Transporting patients.
• Assembling supplies and equipment for surgical procedures
• Responsible for stocking and maintaining inventory supplies
• Providing instrument and supplies to surgical team during procedures.
• Identifying changes in patient’s condition and communicating significant observations to RN Staff.
• Maintaining and organizing sterile field.
• Assisting in performing emergency procedures
