TRAUMA PROGRAM MANAGER

The Surgical Department of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a full-time Trauma Program Manager to join our team. We are an ACS Verified Level I trauma center located in South Queens, NY. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has one of the largest hospital-based ambulance services within the five boroughs of New York City.  JHMC is one of the busiest trauma centers in the NYC area with a high penetrating trauma rate and provides care for a high volume of operative trauma patients.  The trauma team includes surgical residents and nurse practitioners with research and performance improvement teams dedicated to the trauma program.  There is a robust Injury Prevention program with a growing hospital-based violence intervention program.

JOB DUTIES:

The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for the oversight and authority of the Trauma Center’s Trauma Program in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and Associate Trauma Medical Director (ATMD). The TPM is a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant who has expertise in trauma practice and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program meeting the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the State of New York. The TPM assumes responsibilities for process improvement (PI) activities as they relate to nursing, ancillary personnel, registry, and injury prevention staff/activities. The TPM is responsible for directing, evaluating, and providing feedback, across various areas within the Trauma Division, to professional-level employees who participate in the operation of the trauma program; the TPM works closely with others to promote education and outreach. The TPM functions as an extension of the TMD and reports the progress of their work to them.
