Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home is a not-for-profit, short-term rehabilitation/long-term care facility located in Jamaica, New York, on Jamaica Hospital Medical Center campus.  We are a CMS five-star rated facility and ranked in the 1st Quintile for Quality.  Our facility is in need of a motivated individual to join our dynamic team as the Director of Admissions and Marketing.

The Director of Admissions and Marketing will facilitate all potential admissions by direct communication with hospital personnel, potential residents/family members, insurance case managers, and other community referrals.  They will provide information to the resident and/or the family concerning the Facility and their rights and responsibilities as dictated by State and Federal regulations and Facility policies.

Essential Functions

  • Effectively communicates with hospital personnel, insurance companies, and other community referral sources.
  • Gather information and complete pre-admission and admission inquiry forms accurately.
  • Interview potential residents and residents’ representatives to collect accurate data.
  • Ability to interact with discharge planners in an effective, efficient manner. Ask for appropriate and adequate resident information to determine if the facility can care for the resident adequately in conjunction with the Medical Director and Director of Nursing when necessary.
  • Assign appropriate room location to residents in consultation with the nursing department and administration.
  • Greet and provide tours of the facility to prospective residents and family members.
  • Identify potential residents whose needs can be met by the facility.
  • Explain the facility admission agreement and all attachments to potential and new residents and residents’ representatives.  Obtain required signatures on all admission forms.
  • Maintain an accurate facility census for all facility departments.
  • Notify appropriate facility departments when a resident is admitted, transferred, discharged or moves from one room to another.
  • Keep accurate records of residents’ information; keep all residents’ information confidential.
  • Ability to collect and maintain accurate data for all payer sources.
  • Follow and continuously improve admission, transfer and discharge policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between transferring institutions and the facility; establish a good rapport with transferring institutions.
  • Actively participate in marketing the facility and maintaining an acceptable census level.
  • Ability to analyze Quality Indicator information related to admissions, discharges, and resident case-mix to develop and implement the marketing program.
Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree (B.S., B.A.) from a four-year college or university; and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in the health care admission process, sales, or marketing is strongly preferred.
